All or any of these abilities can be accessed by a medium.
Clairvoyant means that the person that is working with their clairvoyant ability, will be able to see images of people, places or things. They are able to describe these to you when giving a message. This does not mean that they are fortunetellers or seers of the future, but clairvoyance is by definition simply "clear seeing", and that does not mean seeing the future. Seeing into the future is a form of prophesy. A good clairvoyant will, and indeed should, validate things for you that have happened in the past and things that are happening in the present.
Clairaudience is essentially 'clear hearing'. This means that we will hear information from Spirit. This might be ones own Spirit helpers, angels or guides. (You know, that little voice that tells you to take a left rather than a right, and you find out eventually that if you had taken a left, you would have been involved in a tragic accident.) When working as a medium and giving messages, it will be the Spirit of the loved one that is no longer here, giving that information. It's not like hearing it on a physical level, it's more like a telepathic voice in someone's head. It's like as if you were talking to yourself silently. Mediums hear as though they are listening to a person talking to them on the outside of their head, as though the Spirit is next to or near to the medium, and other mediums hear the voices in their minds as a verbal thought.
(Now, as with any of these abilities the non-believers and skeptics would argue that we're making it all up as we go along. It is our imagination. After years of personal experiences, all I can say is that I most definitely know when it's spirit and not me, because the words come so fast, so random, and so unusual that I wouldn't have time to think it for myself even if I tried.) I usually find myself working with this ability, especially when working as a medium, when Spirit are giving me specifics, like names, dates and places etc.
Clairsentience is where the psychic or medium feels or senses things, as the word suggests, it is clear sensing. "Clear Sensing" is the ability to have an impression of what a spirit wants to communicate. It's kinda like when you just know someone is staring at you or standing right behind you, but it's much more hightened than that.
Clairsention is to "actually physically feel" sensations instilled by a spirit. I usually get this, again when working as a medium, when someone has passed with a certain illness or condition. For a split second I will feel a sensation, such as an excrutiating headache (possibly while even hearing the word Cancer - [clairaudiance]) suggesting that they would have felt this before they passed. Or perhaps, the sensation of a condition that the spirit would have suffered with during their life.
The actual "condition", being the headache, is called Clairsentinence which is the actual "manifestation" of the symptom. I can then describe this to the person that I am giving a message to. In this case of the excrutiating headache, the spirit would be telling me that they had died from brain cancer. This helps to validate which particular person is coming through from Spirit for them.
It also might come into play from a psychic perspective as you may feel something about the person you are reading directly. For example you might physically feel a quick pain in your leg if they have injured it recently. However, it might not be something physical that you actually feel, it can also be defined as an inner knowing [claircognizance], so just a feeling you get about something, like a gut feeling. You may just energetically feel or just know somehow that the person you are reading has a bad leg, like maybe deep vein thrombosis.
When you use these abilities, you're using the mind to access information that is not always obvious within the normal, waking state. Even though psychic information is really available to everyone, most people haven't learned to focus in that way. If they did, they would find that information is available by something other than (or in addition to) the five senses.
Hopefully this has helped explain a little about the differences between clairvoyants, clairsentients, clairaudients, mediums, psychics, etc... You can find even more information about Mediumship on our Mediums Explained page.
